SUP YOGA

What is SUP Yoga?

SUP Yoga stands for Stand-Up Paddleboard Yoga, a unique practice that blends traditional yoga poses with the natural challenge of balancing on water. It’s done on a paddleboard, usually on a calm lake, river, or bay, combining mindfulness, strength, balance, and nature into one beautiful experience.

Imagine flowing through gentle yoga postures while your board floats under you, the sky above, and the water softly rippling below. It’s peaceful, playful, and powerful, a chance to connect deeply with your breath, your body, and the beauty of the outdoors.

Meet Your Instructor

Hi, I’m Kei, a lifelong water lover and passionate yoga teacher.

My connection to water began when I was just five years old, the day my dad tossed me into a pool to “teach” me how to swim. It might sound extreme, but that moment sparked something lasting, a sense of freedom, courage, and joy that still fills me every time I’m near the water.

I became a certified paddleboard instructor in 2022, and in 2023, I completed a world paddleboard race in Northern Michigan, a milestone that deepened both my love for the sport and my trust in the water. Around that time, I discovered a practice that felt like a natural fusion of everything I love: SUP Yoga, the blend of stand-up paddleboarding and yoga.

As a yoga practitioner and teacher, I’ve found SUP Yoga to be more than a creative twist. It’s a deeply grounding, humbling, and liberating way to move. The water constantly invites you into the present moment. You engage your core. You steady your breath. You let go of perfection and embrace play.

“Balance isn’t stillness — it’s the art of adjusting with grace.”

Each class becomes a journey, from paddling out and anchoring to flowing through poses and closing with a floating savasana beneath the sky. SUP Yoga invites strength, surrender, and pure joy.

Since I began teaching, I’ve guided many classes and built a lovely community of returning students who share a love for movement, nature, and water. Whether you’re brand new or experienced, I’d be honored to have you join me this summer.

Let’s paddle out, flow together, and discover clarity, connection, and balance, on the board and beyond.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each SUP Yoga class begins with a short paddle to settle in and anchor your board. We start seated with breathwork and gentle movement, then flow through yoga poses designed specifically for the water, balancing strength and softness.

The class ends with a floating savasana, lying back on your board, eyes closed, sky above, water below. It’s calm, grounding, and deeply restorative.

Expect to wobble. Maybe splash. Definitely smile.

If you have experience and your own gear, feel free to bring it along, just make sure your board has an anchor (5 lbs or more), a leash, and PDF (personal flotation device). Don’t forget sunscreen, water, and a towel for after class!

If you’re new to SUP Yoga, I’ve got you covered! I can help arrange rentals for everything you need,  paddleboard, anchor, leash, and PFD. Just bring an open mind, a smile, and comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little wet.

Not at all! We’ll go over the basics together. Most students are new to it, and you’ll feel more confident as the class flows.

No yoga experience is required. The class is beginner friendly and includes modifications for all levels.

No worries, it’s part of the experience! Falling in is safe, refreshing, and often leads to laughter.

Yes! We practice in calm, shallow water, and I’ll go over all safety guidelines at the beginning of class. I’ll also be keeping a close and caring watch throughout the session to ensure everyone feels supported and secure.
