About Me

Meet Kei

Hello, I’m Kei!

My journey into yoga began quite unexpectedly. Initially, I was looking to lose some weight and decided to give yoga a try. In 2013, I walked into a local Bikram studio, purchased a package of five classes, and attended my first session. I almost gave up after that—it was incredibly challenging and unbearably hot. However, determined not to waste the classes I had bought, I returned a few weeks later. This time, something clicked, and the magic of yoga started to unfold for me.

From that moment on, my dedication to yoga flourished. I began practicing regularly, immersing myself in various styles such as Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Hatha, Power, Bikram and Yin Yoga. Driven by curiosity and passion, I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) directed by Jonny Kest, a direct disciple of the Ashtanga yoga lineage in Michigan, USA. I further honed my skills by earning an advanced Ashtanga yoga certification from the Himalayan Yoga Academy in Kathmandu, Nepal. Currently, I am pursuing a 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training to deepen my knowledge and expertise.

For me, yoga is far more than a series of physical exercises. It’s a holistic journey that enriches the body, mind, and spirit. It’s a lifestyle that fosters inner balance and self-discovery. In my classes, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a playful, supportive energy. My goal is to create a safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome to explore their practice and embark on their own yoga journey. I believe that yoga is for every body, and I strive to make my classes accessible and enjoyable for all.

I am also fluent in both Japanese and Chinese and am dedicated to making meaningful contributions to the mainstream and the Asian yoga practitioner communities.

Beyond the yoga mat, I work for a global Japanese automobile corporation. I am passionate about martial arts and run a small family company (BKRBUDO) with my husband to promote and educate others about it. As an avid stand-up paddleboarding instructor, I love immersing myself in nature. I am fascinated by Buddha’s teachings and continuously learn about them. Additionally, I enjoy exploring new web technologies to stay current in the digital world. This unique blend of experiences has taught me the importance of balance, precision, and mindfulness in both professional and personal settings.

I look forward to meeting you and supporting you on your yoga journey!

A Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) is a yoga instructor who has completed a specific level of training and met the standards set by the Yoga Alliance, a globally recognized organization. To become an RYT, individuals must complete a training program at a Registered Yoga School (RYS) and accumulate a certain number of teaching hours.

Journey of Self-Discovery

Many yoga practitioners are initially drawn to the practice through its myriad physical postures, which help maintain bodily health and unblock energy channels. After a yoga session, we often feel strong, healthy, vibrant, and peaceful. This marks the beginning of a journey of self-improvement that starts with the body and progressively refines through the layers of our being, encompassing the five layers (Pancha Koshas) of yoga, includes Annamaya Kosha (Physical), Pranamaya Kosha (Vital Energy), Manomaya Kosha (Mental), Vijnanamaya Kosha (Wisdom), Anandamaya Kosha (Bliss).

Yoga enhances physical strength, flexibility, and balance through diverse poses and breathing exercises, awakening our bodies and boosting vitality. Mentally, yoga serves as a potent tool for achieving clarity and peace amidst life’s chaos, silencing mental chatter and focusing on the present moment and essential priorities.

Moreover, yoga has sharpened our intellect and intuition by attuning us to our body’s rhythms, granting us insight into making prudent decisions and gracefully managing life’s challenges. Most significantly, yoga opens our eyes to the profound beauty and wonder of the world. Through consistent practice and introspection, we develop an appreciation for life’s simple joys and a sense of gratitude for each moment.

When I share my passion for yoga, my goal is for others to experience its transformative power. Yoga teaches us to embrace the present moment, cultivate gratitude for life’s blessings, and extend kindness to ourselves and others. I warmly invite you to embark on this journey of self-discovery and empowerment with me, emphasizing that yoga is accessible and beneficial for everyone.
